How We Work
Garrett’s work is not a menu of services. It is a single diagnostic thread applied at different depths.
Most consultants lead with a solution. Garrett leads with a question: what is the gap between what this organization says it wants and what its architecture is actually producing?
There is a thread that runs through every framework Garrett has built, every engagement he leads, every Lab he teaches.
Aspiration shapes Identity. Identity drives Behavior. Behavior produces Performance.
When any link in that chain breaks, friction results.
When someone’s aspiration exceeds their current identity, they want something they do not yet believe they are capable of reaching. The gap between wanting and believing is where performance stalls.
When behavior conflicts with stated intention, an organization’s leaders say one thing while the systems around them reward something else. People follow the real instructions, not the announced ones. Then leadership wonders why the behavior does not match the strategy.
When identity cannot support what someone is being asked to do, a leader gets promoted and still operates like an individual contributor. A team is told to “think strategically” while every metric and meeting structure rewards tactical execution.
Most consulting work addresses the visible problem: the behavior. The missed deadline. The team that is not aligned. The culture that feels wrong.
Garrett starts before the behavior. He asks what people are aspiring toward. What they believe is possible. Who they believe they are. What the systems around them have actually instructed them to do.
Those questions do not produce a quick fix. They produce an accurate diagnosis.
Three things distinguish how Garrett works from the leadership consulting you have probably encountered before.
He does not begin with a solution. He begins with a diagnostic question. If the surface description of the problem were accurate, the organization would have solved it already. Something underneath is producing the friction. The work is finding it.
His frameworks are his own. The Instruction Audit, the Performance Thermostat, the Narrative Pivot, the Mirror Principle, Leader of One. These are not concepts borrowed from a business book or repackaged from a popular methodology. They emerged from Garrett leading real teams through real friction. Patterns that kept showing up, across different contexts, until he built language around them.
He is interested in what is underneath the visible problem. Most consultants stop at behavior. Make the behavior change and call it alignment. Garrett knows that behavior change without identity change is temporary. The old pattern returns as soon as the pressure does. The work has to go deeper, or it does not hold.
Four pathways. One diagnostic thread. Different depths.
DUMB Leadership Labs
The DUMB Leadership Labs are a five-part diagnostic framework delivered as a cohort series.
Five Labs. One framework. Each building on the last.
Leader of One examines what you are actually responsible for and how you lead yourself before you attempt to lead others.
Instruction Audit examines what your organization has actually instructed people to do. Not what the values statement says. What the systems, expectations, and daily practices are teaching.
Performance Thermostat examines what pulls performance back toward a familiar baseline, even when people genuinely want something different.
Narrative Pivot examines the stories people carry about themselves and what is possible, and how those stories shape their choices.
Mirror Principle examines what leaders see in others that reflects something about their own behavior, expectations, or leadership practices.
DUMB stands for Dream-Driven, Uplifting, Method-Neutral, Big and Bold. It is intentionally provocative. It challenges the narrowing that happens when ambition gets filtered through fear, realism, external expectation, and self-protection.
Individual cohort: $300 for the full five-Lab series.
Organizational cohort: $3,000 for the full five-Lab series.
Large-format delivery: begins at $3,000 per Lab.
One-to-One Leadership Lab
The One-to-One Leadership Lab is structured individual work through the DUMB Leadership Workbook, guided directly by Garrett.
Three 90-minute sessions. $750.
This is for the leader who wants depth, privacy, and direct application of the frameworks to their specific situation. Someone navigating a transition, a persistent pattern, or a friction they cannot quite name. Someone who does not want to do that work in a group setting.
It is not coaching. It is diagnostic, structured, and grounded in the same frameworks that drive the cohort Labs.
Aspiration Advantage
Aspiration Advantage is the flagship organizational engagement.
A six-week intensive that examines the relationship between what people aspire to achieve and what the organization is actually producing. Designed for executive teams and senior leadership layers. Up to 20 participants. Delivered directly by Garrett.
Most alignment work starts with strategy: “here is where we are going, now get aligned.” That approach misses something important. The people inside your organization have aspirations of their own. When those aspirations are never examined alongside the organization’s goals, alignment becomes compliance. Compliance is fragile. It breaks under pressure.
Aspiration Advantage examines the gaps: between individual aspiration and organizational direction, between stated values and operational reality, between what leadership believes is happening and what people are actually experiencing.
Strategic Alignment Blueprint
The Strategic Alignment Blueprint is the custom pathway.
For organizations whose situation does not fit the standard Lab or Aspiration Advantage structure. When the challenge crosses multiple domains and needs integrated diagnosis. When leadership needs clarity on what the actual problem is before committing to a specific engagement.
Garrett works directly with leadership to understand the architecture of the challenge, design an approach, and define the scope. The Blueprint is the result: a clear, scoped pathway forward with investment aligned to the work required.
Most people begin with the Leadership Friction Snapshot. It is free. It is private. It asks five to seven reflection questions about one leadership situation you are navigating right now. Garrett reviews every response personally.
You complete the Snapshot. You schedule a 30-minute call. Garrett reviews your responses before you meet. During the call, he shares what he saw. Together, you determine whether there is a fit and which pathway makes sense.
There is no pitch. No pressure. No automated email sequence.
